The highest award for our new product. Operating elements Pi are among the winners of this year’s German Design Award, which ranks as one of the most prestigious design prizes in the world. Awarding the coveted gold trophy, the panel of judges praised the outstandingly modern appearance and high quality of the operating elements Pi range. The products took the judges by surprise thanks to an aesthetic quality that is exceptionally high by industrial standards.
The German Design Council was also impressed by the coherent product semantics of the individual elements. The range comprises knurled, wing and tri-lobe hand knobs as well as handles. During the development process, we focussed on a clear, uniform design language and exceptional ergonomics. The design of the elements is geared toward ergonomic power transmission, aims to visualise functionality and reinterprets our item design language. For example, the easy-grip shape noticeably reduces the amount of force users have to apply when using the elements. The colour scheme also ensures customers can find a solution that suits their taste and is still in harmony with the typical item design scheme. The launch of operating elements Pi fills a gap in our product portfolio. Whereas, in the past, the only option was to use standard components from third-party suppliers, now we have our own solution on the market that satisfies our high standards in terms of design and functionality.
