Connecting Profiles

05.07.06

A new connecting profile introduced into the item range of machine building products enables end users to construct economic composite structural elements of any length by clamping together a number of standard aluminium profiles.

This combines high load bearing with minimum deflection characteristics using low mass components. This is particularly advantageous in handling systems where hardened, ground and polished steel rails and high quality bearings from the item range can also be incorporated into the structure to create cost effective linear motion systems.

Designed for use with the line 8 profiles, including standard, light and economy sections, the connecting profile is designed for use in pairs for the continuous longitudinal connection of several individual profiles. Large box, 1 beam and other specialised beam section shapes can be quickly and economically constructed. These composite structures can have large external dimensions, with impressive load bearing characteristics, but built within relatively small tolerances.

Construction could not be simpler, with the connecting profiles simply locating into the full length grooves of any mating line 8 profiles. Pre-drilled 1 I mm diameter holes are provided on 200mm spacings to accommodate the cross clamping of the connecting profile using standard socket head screws and captive nuts. Standard profiles incorporating closed grooves to give a clean exterior finish can be incorporated into the beam assemblies. Cover profiles in metre lengths can also be supplied to clip into the connecting profile longitudinal grooves. This provides a dust-tight joint, presenting a clean external appearance and covering the clamping screw head and retaining nut.

With a wide range of individual line 8 profiles from 40 x 40mm to 160 x 40mm in section, this gives considerable scope for the construction of highly individual composite structures to suit the most demanding build requirements. When this size range is also enhanced with three options of standard, light and economy sections, many also having optional closed groove construction, then a very wide range of design and construction variations can be achieved.
